So I'm a convert. I grew up using that other system: I baked using cups and ounces, talked about weight in pounds and temperatures in Fahrenheit, and hadn't a clue about grams or liters. Now living in Paris I bake using grams and centilitres and I am never going back! Apparently not everyone agrees. Ever heard of the Metric Martyrs? Here is a recent article, and for background a Wikipedia entry. From the article: "The story of the bananas, the pounds and the criminal records is a trivial but illuminating example of why the EU failed in Britain. In the interest of so-called fairness, dull uniformity was imposed, and we wouldn’t have it." I can easily see both sides of the story! How about you?
